MJI TeamWorks is based around a thin client or browser based architecture. Rather than a traditional client server application where the application is resident on both a central server and client pc's. MJI TeamWorks is only installed on the server. Users access the application via a browser-based interface.
This offers a number of advantages when compared to client server applications.
-
Rapid implementation
MJI TeamWorks requires no client machine installation - the application is installed on and accessed from a central server. This enables a rapid implementation and simplified deployment to users.
-
Reduced administration and support costs
When new versions of MJI TeamWorks are released, only the server hosting the MJI TeamWorks application needs to be upgraded to the new release. This significantly reduces ongoing support and maintenance costs.
-
Non-Invasive software
MJI TeamWorks is a true thin client product - it utilises no activeX downloads or java components. It can be deployed within your organisation and externally to clients and business partners without affecting existing corporate desktop standards.
-
Standardised software versions
All users of the software use the same version – irrespective of how they access the software. This removes any issues due to version incompatibility.
-
Lower hardware requirements
As only a browser is required to access a thin client application, client machine hardware requirements are many times lower than 'fat client' applications.
Industry leading software components
MJI TeamWorks is based around leading software components:
- Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft .NET Framework
- SQL Server 2000
.NET Architecture
The latest release of MJI TeamWorks is built around the Microsoft .NET Architecture. This provides a major leap forward in both the performance and scalability of MJI TeamWorks when compared to the previous release.
The .NET framework is a component of the Microsoft® Windows operating system that provides the development platform for building, deploying, and running browser based applications and XML web services. Additional benefits of the framework include reduced development times, therefore reducing the delivery time of enhancements to market and significant increases in application scalability.
Scalability and resilience
MJI TeamWorks is a fully scalable solution. It can be implemented in a number of configurations to provide high levels of resilience and availability.
Security
MJI TeamWorks has a multi-level access control and security model. This ensures that information is available to users on a need to know basis.
Connectivity
When accessed by external users optional 128bit SSL can be used for additional security.
Authenticated logon
Access to the application is controlled via a secure logon.
Standard access control and permissions model
MJI TeamWorks has a standard access control and permissions model that is implemented across all areas of the application. Access can be controlled to the level of individual users and individual workspace items. To simplify access control maintenance, user groups can be created and permissions allocated at this 'higher' level.
Document storage
All documents stored within MJI TeamWorks can be optionally encrypted with a 128bit key. This prevents unauthorised access if documents are browsed via your network.
